Q1 2022: A New Location & Improvements to Customer Service

Q1 2022: A New Location & Improvements to Customer Service

To our Friends, Chocolate-enthusiasts, and our Customers,
This has been truly an amazing quarter. About a year ago, we left Valentine's Day in 2021, so excited about the future of the company, with the demand skyrocketing for Marsatta's bean-to-bar chocolate. However, there was a lot of room for improvement, especially with the efficiency and the storefront. We're thrilled to say that our efficiency was high-caliber for this recent Valentine's Day. And with a bitter-sweet note, we're excited to say we will be officially leaving our storefront for a new location.
A New Storefront: So we totally acknowledge that our storefront was not where we wanted to be. We love Torrance, but we completely outgrew our storefront, especially with e-commerce now accounting for 50% of our gross revenue. The space needed for proper fulfillment led to a less than ideal store experience. For this reason, we are thrilled to announce a two-prong approach to a new retail location(s).
  • Moving our Factory to the Heart of the South Bay: We've decided to move our chocolate making operations in the heart of the South Bay, and we're even thrilled to announce a partnership with CloudKitchen. You may not have heard of CloudKitchen, but it's from the executive team behind Uber, and they've been disrupting online delivery. With the resources at CloudKitchen, we think we can finally scale to meet the growing demand.

Our customers want to get Marsatta Chocolate within 15 minutes from a click: Now with our collaboration with CloudKitchen, we will be offering Marsatta through every delivery method (Uber Eats, Grubhub, Doordash) and expanding across greater Los Angeles. In a few weeks, if you're in Malibu, you can now enjoy Marsatta's freshly made chocolate, without heading to traffic. Simply find us on Grubhub, and Marsatta is in your hands within 15 minutes.

  • A New Flagship Experience Center Store Coming Soon: We do plan launch a new flagship short in Q4 of 2022. We are thrilled to announce that we have been working with UC Irvine's Merage School of Business to help architect the design of the store. We know how important the store experience is to our community, and we want to make sure it is perfect at the launch.
So Does that Mean you Wont have a Retail Location? Don't worry. We will always be your #1 resource for Chocolate needs in Southern California. As we transition, we will be at various events. Additionally, customers can come to any of our retail expansion areas to pick up chocolate at even better store hours (10am to midnight). We will be announcing the full role-out very soon.

We're customer-obsessed and actively listening to your feedback: With such growth, we are always listening, and asking, how can we better serve your needs? How can we be the best chocolate company in America, and how can we deliver a more memorable experience? We have learned so much and appreciate your help and guidance. We would like to share some feedback from what we've heard.
  • New Packaging is a huge hit: Our customers love our chocolate. The milky smooth taste with the unique ingredients. But our packaging was always a deal-breaker. Not any more, and our 12 piece assorted box has been a great hit! One customer told us, "I didn't want to try the chocolates at first, because the box is so beautiful...I wanted to frame it." That's music to our ears, and we're thrilled that the looks now matches the taste
  • We want Chocolate faster and immediately: After working with UCI's Business School, we completely revamped our operations. This Valentine's Day, there was no 45 minute wait for Marsatta Chocolate. Rather, our customers were in and out of the store, and the online shipping fulfillment time was less than 36 hours. That's night and day difference from Last Year. Because of the efficiency, we has an incredible December 2021 month, and a very solid February.
Our Big Goals for the Upcoming Quarter: The growth has certainly been rewarding, but we will definitely miss our old facility. We recognize it's time for a new chapter, but so many phenomenal memories. Although we are posited to be online and delivery focused for the next 6 months, we will be coming back to Farmer's Markets and special luxury events to teach new chocolate enthusiasts on why our bean-to-bar and 6 month aged chocolate is more than just chocolate...it's an experience.

Thank you to all of our supporters!

Sincerely,
The Marsatta Chocolate Team
